Wedding Day Shooting Plan
Planning your wedding day photography and videography can feel overwhelming, but with Toronto Wedding Story, you’re in experienced hands. From the early morning preparations to the final dance at the reception, we cover every meaningful moment with professionalism and heart. Below is a general breakdown of how a typical wedding day unfolds with us — and how we capture it all.
Getting Ready: The day usually begins with hair and makeup preparations, often at the bride’s home or bridal suite. We focus on candid, natural moments shared between the bride, her family, and friends. If requested, we also assign a team member to capture the groom’s preparations simultaneously. During this phase, we document the details — the dress, the rings, the laughter, and all the anticipation leading up to the ceremony.
First Look: Once preparations are complete, we move on to the first look — a truly emotional moment when the bride and groom see each other for the first time on their wedding day. If time allows, this is also when we do an intimate portrait session with the couple, followed by photos with close family members and friends. It’s a perfect time to capture raw emotions and joyful expressions.
Ceremony: Whether it’s a civil ceremony, a church wedding, or a temple service, we’re there to respectfully document every key moment. Our approach is photojournalistic — we stay discreet and attentive, capturing the vows, the glances, the smiles, and every other unforgettable detail through both photography and videography.
Couple Portraits: This session is all about you. Depending on your schedule, we typically do the couple’s outdoor or indoor photo shoot either before or after the ceremony. We’ll work together to choose the perfect location — from nearby parks and gardens to elegant indoor venues — to highlight your connection and the beauty of the day.
Reception: The final part of the day is the reception, where celebrations reach their peak. We continue capturing the moments — heartfelt toasts, dancing, laughter, and the joy shared with your guests. This is when we also focus on group photos and candid shots of your guests enjoying the evening.
Please note: The flow above represents a general outline based on our typical wedding day coverage. Every couple is unique, and we are more than happy to customize the shooting plan based on your specific preferences and timeline.
Wedding Day Videography
Just like with photography, our videography services are designed to capture your entire wedding day — from the quiet moments of preparation to the laughter and love shared during the reception.
We offer two distinct types of video products, tailored to different preferences and viewing experiences:
Cinematic Highlight Video: The Cinematic Highlight Video is a short, emotionally driven film that tells the story of your day in a beautifully edited 2–3 minute video. This service runs in parallel with your photography coverage and includes brief clips taken throughout the day — during the preparation, ceremony, couple portraits, and reception.
Throughout your wedding day, we capture 5–10 second clips of key moments, focusing on emotion, light, and movement. In post-production, these clips are edited together with a song of your choice, turning your day into a cinematic visual memory that you’ll want to watch again and again.
Full Wedding Video: The Full Wedding Video is ideal for couples who want a comprehensive, documentary-style recording of their ceremony and reception. Unlike the highlight video, this option does not include brief clips from the preparation stage — instead, it focuses on capturing long-form footage of the most important parts of the day.
With this service, we record continuous coverage (up to 3–4 hours) of your ceremony and reception using professional audio and multi-camera angles. After the event, the footage is edited with basic color correction and framing adjustments, then delivered as a full-length video that you can watch from start to finish.
Choosing the Right Package: Because the Cinematic Highlight Video and Full Wedding Video are fundamentally different in structure and filming approach, they require different types of footage. If you decide to book both services, we assign two videographers to ensure all necessary shots are captured effectively.
Please be sure to let us know in advance which type(s) of video you would like. Since the filming process for each is unique, it’s not possible to create one type of video from footage intended for the other.
Frequently Asked Questions
Every wedding day is unique — and that’s exactly how it should be.
With years of experience capturing weddings across Ontario, we’ve had the pleasure of working with couples from many different cultures, traditions, and backgrounds. No two weddings are ever the same, and that’s why we approach each event with fresh eyes and open ears.
Below, we’ve gathered some of the most frequently asked questions we receive from our couples. Keep in mind: everything can be tailored to your preferences. If your question isn’t listed here, don’t hesitate to reach out — we’re always happy to help.
How long does a typical shoot last?
Wedding day shoots included in our Toronto Wedding Photographer Packages typically cover up to 8 hours. This includes everything from the getting-ready stage to the ceremony and evening celebrations. Additional coverage is available at $100 per hour beyond 8 hours.
How many photos do you deliver?
There’s no fixed limit. On average, we capture around 1,500 photos per wedding, depending on the couple’s energy and the number of guests. All images are delivered fully edited for lighting, color, and composition, as part of your Toronto Wedding Photographer Package.
Do you travel outside of Toronto?
Yes, although we’re based in downtown Toronto, we travel throughout the GTA and surrounding areas. For weddings outside Toronto, a travel fee is added depending on the distance.
How are photos and videos delivered?
Your photos and wedding film are delivered via WeTransfer in high resolution. Editing takes approximately 15 business days. If you’d like to receive raw files, we can send them to your address on a hard drive or USB, which is billed separately.
What is a cinematic highlight film?
If your package includes videography, we create a professionally edited highlight film — a 3–5 minute summary of your wedding day, built from short, emotional moments captured throughout. It’s a beautiful way to relive the essence of your day.
Can I customize a package?
Absolutely! While we offer three base Toronto Wedding Photographer Packages — Silver, Gold, and Platinum — many clients choose to customize their package. For example, you can add a full-length wedding film, which includes uninterrupted footage of the ceremony and reception, and may require a second videographer.
How do I book a date?
First, we’ll confirm availability for your wedding date. If we’re available, we’ll send you an online contract outlining your selected services. Once you’ve signed and submitted a 25% deposit, your booking is confirmed.
